Should an A grade in, for example, Business Studies be graded as less than an A grade in a Science, or English?

Could you explain how a grade of "A" is graded less than another grade of "A" please?

Sorry, badly phrased. I mean ´counted as less´, or to be more specific, given a lower points score (if such a system were to be implemented).

If you mean it doesn't have as much academic status then perhaps they should be equal. Do you feel they aren't?

That´s pretty much it. The issue is that it is currently far easier to attain an A level grade A in, say, Business Studies, than it is in Maths. The latter requires a far greater level of a certain type of intelligence than the other. The two are already being treated differently, but I am considering whether it would be worth upgrading the grading system.

Well, an argument might go that Business Studies is a much smaller field than say, physics. Business Studies is mostly about current theories (actually fashions) and case studies with a bit of law and history thrown in for good measure. Ok some of the theories and case studies are truly academic but physics is a massive field and requires the understanding of fields like maths and chemistry too.

I'm not saying they should be seen as having a different value but can understand that they do.

I wonder how long it is before a university is sued for discriminating against someone because they weren't clever enough to get in.

Since English is often graded subjectively, I think that its grade should by no means count for more than any that of any other class (I have always been bad at English, so my opinion may be squewed).
