Large amounts of television viewing, regardless of the content, can adversely affect a person’s values, turning them into a stupid Democrat:
Specific findings of the Culture and Media Institute’s study include:
o 64 percent of Americans believe the media is the most important, or one of the most important, influences on American values
o 74 percent believe American values are weaker than they were 20 years ago
o Clear majorities believe the entertainment media (73 percent) and the news media (54 percent) have a negative influence on American values
o Watching more television is associated with lower commitment to charity. 56 percent of heavy television viewers (four hours or more per evening) never volunteer, compared to 27 percent of light TV viewers (one hour or less of TV per evening)
o 31 percent of heavy TV viewers would cheat a restaurant that left items off the bill, compared to only 19 percent of light TV viewers
o 44 percent of light TV viewers believe abortion is always wrong, compared to 27 percent of heavy viewers
o 47 percent of light viewers attend church weekly, compared to just 28 percent of heavy viewers

This group of people do all these things AND they watch alot of TV...so that MUST mean that TV causes them to do it.
It couldn't possibly mean that people who have these traits just happen to also watch alot of tv now could it? Maybe because they don't go to church or volunteer, it gives them free time to do other things....like watch TV maybe??
No no, there must be a direct link!
Yes Yes, it must be TV because people couldn't possibly have made up their own mind about these things because people are too smart to think these things unless they've been brainwashed by something!!!
A republican view if there ever was one. π

Originally posted by der schwarze RitterAbsolutely. The more TV you watch the less you are inclined to do anything about anything, with the result that you would usually give up on exercising your democratic rights, because you would think your one vote wont make a bag of beans of difference in the big scheme of things.
Large amounts of television viewing, regardless of the content, can adversely affect a person’s values, turning them into a stupid Democrat:
I agree that Democrats, who tend to be more intelligent than most, if they sat in front of their TV too much and too often, would probably become complacent and a bit resigned as to the futility of it all and forget to participate in the democratic process. Which is very silly after all as change can only come when people fight for their beliefs and maintain hope that the Democrat way will prevail only if every believer participates in the political process by voting.
Therefore I think your thetical statement is correct. Large amounts of TV viewing will spawn stupid Democrats, as they will by their apathy give up their natural birthright as free thinking, rational, compassionate individuals. Their birthright of an America as envisioned by towering intellects like Thomas Paine who would dream of a world where might and right are not an assumed ordained fact, but a brokered consensus between the common interests of all who hold freedom dear.

'Spurious Sad & Retarded' is definitely one.
'Insignificant Execrable and Inflammatory' are definitely another.
And 'Emotionally Naive & Vacuous' have been getting high profile cases recently!
