People are getting materialistic, dismayed by those in power, and overwhelmed by technology. Intelligence-making may come from science; however, due to the Admin, programmers making AI cyborgs have new incentives against ideological bias, which rightly implemented means no one side or persuasion can control a robot "consciousness."
Religion remains popular. Fleming's James Bond is reputed for his nonconformist religion. Remaining legacies of the Greco-Roman patriarchy or holdouts from the Battle of the Sexes will resort to something meaningful in the future. Not everyone is trying to prolong their lifespan, although that may be noble, or adjusting themselves for a better name.
P.S. I'm aware US aid workers fought to save 57% of the emergency energy biscuits, in a update recently. They figured it as a surplus when a deal couldn't be reached and destroyed 43% from one warehouse when expired. So, while the transportation cost for everything wasn't fronted for those in need, an amount was saved to curb wasteful spending, if not filling stomachs alone.

After the apocalypse, there are hundreds of buried storage bunkers in Iowa that'll support life for awhile, but a few thousand years of darkness will wipe out most anything.
