So what if they took advantage of a terror premium, stirred up concern about a supply disruption that didn't happen, buy the patents to engines that run completely without hydrocarbons and then bury the technology?

Rich broads in Houston can never have enough jewelry. You should know better. Shame on you.
I can't wait until my dividend checks start showing up!

Why not, the IT industry cleaned up with the bogus Y2K issue. Tons of money to be made there and it was all generated on preying on the irrational fears of the public.

Besides, who are you, a non-investor in this company, to comment on the amount of profit a company makes?

If you don't like it, don't buy gas, take public transportation or walk.

Ouch! You're right of course. And I have been thoroughly chastised for my terrible judgement of corporations! I now see the way. GREED IS GOOD! THE END ALWAYS JUSTIFIES THE MEANS! 🙂

Not really related to the original threat but...

As a software developer i worked on some of the Y2K issues and personally worked on several financial programs that would have failed without a doubt.

We had our entire staff on call 24/7 that week. no major hiccups occured because companies realized it was a VERY REAL ISSUE that had to be dealt with. Many companies directed the bulk of their IT budgets towards Y2K fixes and contingency plans.

As billions of lines of code were analyzed and fixed around the world I was astounded at how few problems were encountered when the millenium clock rolled over.

Well, ok dickhead, I read your profile and saw that you're prior military, as I am, so I tried to give you the benefit of the doubt. But since you're not interested in that, then let's go. How about you learn to think about what's best for your kids? How about you consider, one time, what the world will be like if oil companies are allowed to she ...[text shortened]... il tomorrow, when your buddies get indicted and exposed for the criminals and traitors they are.
You can't have an arguement without name calling? How sad for you.

Don't worry about my children, they will be well prepared to go out in the world and make a living preying on paranoid idjits like yourself.

Isn't it true though that most large multi-national companies regardless of which industry they do business in, make vast amounts of profits.

False. Some make huge profits, some make huge losses, some go bankrupt the next year.

I can think of a lot of large multinational insurance companies taking some hits this quarter....

Just your typical business cycle, no matter how big you are.

I think it sucks and will continue to think so until the oil companies tell me WHEN they are going to create the next crisis so I can sink my savings in their stocks. Then it will be just fine.
Apres crisis, cigars all around.

Please name me a large, multinational corporation that has went REALLY bankrupt in a last few years (not reorganization bankrupt, which is usually a way to screw workers out of their pensions and other things the company agreed to but out of business, large investors lost money bankrupt).

I'm sure that the big oil companies would love to spend some of these obscene profits on building some new refineries... which would get supply up and prices down....too bad the politicians and the environmentalist wackos won't let them do that... yeah, windmills, that's the answer...
