Are you trying to compare a two team 7 game series with a football world cup?

It's really not comparable. The Stanley cup was played with the same two teams and the same travelling. The world cup is not. Plus the rest days are also the same in the Stanley cup, and world series and NBA final and the superbowl. The world cup can have varying rest days. With a worl ...[text shortened]... a team who played their last match in NY and had 5 days rest.

Understand now why it's ridiculous?
No, I do not. That kind of travel is also routine for the regular season in these sports where teams in different rests and coming from different distances play all the time.

I think the New York Mets played games in New York, Anaheim, St. Louis and Colorado all within one week at one point last season. The New York Rangers will sometimes play Sunday in New York, Tuesday in Los Angeles, Thursday in Vancouver and Saturday in Chicago. Traveling distances 2,000 miles or much more between games and varying rest going into a game are quite routine in American sports.

Edit: Once you're on a plane, does it matter that much if the flight is 3 hours or 5?

Ok, put it like this. Let's forget baseball, ice hockey and basketball because they're not the same as football/soccer.

American football, they play Sunday, once a week. Sometimes they play on a Thursday night after play on the Sunday but then they don't play again for another 10 day. Imagine an American football team had to play Sunday, Thursday, Sunday Thursday Sunday. 5 games In 2 weeks. Then imagine that the team they faced on the last Sunday played in NY in the previous game and they played in LA. They had to play each other in buffalo.

Do you get it now? It's not the time of the flight, and yes 2 hour or 5 hours is a big difference, even just on a domestic route. Have you ever been on a long flight? Was it the same at a short one?

This is professional sports, it takes time to recover, time to prepare for the next game. Would you rather recover on a flight or at a training ground/hotel. Plus as we all know a 5 hour flight isn't just 5 hours, a lot of travel time to get to the airport etc.

Not to mention the fact that FIFA was crying about a carbon natural world cup, whatever that is. It's a joke. And a nightmare for the fans.
