Anyone want to lay odds on this happening in 3 months?

Three months for the government to figure out how to write checks? Shoot, that would take them three days.

What is the laissez faire solution to the problem of people who are in too poor health for insurance companies to be willing to insure them at any price that they can afford? Death?

They did and continue to do so. There's no contradiction between fixing the health care mess (which adversely affects the economy and which the bad economy makes worse) and trying to stimulate economic activity and reform the banking system.

death is probably the most affordable solution. fixind their health would only prolong the burden they place on the system, surely?

And health care should be all about profit and loss calculations - right?

The problem has never been on the insurance end -- so trying to fix the insurance end surely will not solve the problem.

The problem is over-regulation of who can supply healthcare.

News Flash: We all die eventually. The fact that half your lifetime medical costs are going to occur in the last 6 years of your life should tell you something -- death is a scary prospect.

Still, if you really can't face reality, take your hard-earned life savings and spend it trying to stay alive in a hospital bed on a ventilator -- by all means do so! It's your money, you earned it, you can spend it on what you want. So go for it. I wouldn't dream of trying to stop you.

Just don't take MY money to do that. My money is to put food on my kids' table, among other things, not to subsidize your flights of fantasy.

"Your money" is only earned because society has established an economic system allowing you to earn it. As to your claim to keep every cent you have earned because of society's rules vs. the claim of someone to be medically treated when they are sick, you lose. Even the most primitive of cultures tend to their sick.

I guess that's a vote for "death".

Are you suggesting your children are on the brink of starvation?

Yes. And until the rules are changed, it remains my money. Not yours.

Primitive cultures don't treat aging as a sickness.

Not at all. It's a vote for common sense.

Do imagine that by giving doctors more money you can avoid death? You can't. Spend billions, trillions, more. Beg, borrow, steal -- it does't matter. People will STILL die.

The medical community treats aging as a sickness BECAUSE THEY MAKE MONEY OFF IT!!! They are playing the capitalist and YOU the self-proclaimed socialist are defending them GETTING RICH!!

You really don't get it, do you?
