I'd completely forgotten about the North American Union and the development of the Amero until this morning when I got thinking about the market & currency crash / crisis the US is currently going through.
The economic crisis that the US is currently facing seems to be rather reminiscent of the 1920's crisis or "Great Depression" as it was called with the pattern of expanding then recalling the dollar and all the debts and credit outstanding. Banks and business are going bankrupt and already people are finding themselves unemployed.
This excuse may be the best time possible for Bush to formally introduce the NAU and its new currency as it's own "bail out".
"People in the U.S. are going to be hit hard," Chapman warned. "In the severe recession we are entering now, Bush will argue that we have to form a North American Union to compete with the Euro."
"Creating the Amero," Chapman explained, "will be presented to the American public as the administration's solution for dollar recovery. In the process of creating the Amero, the Bush administration just abandons the dollar." "

Is it odd that something this big was singed back in 2005 without congress and the people knowing about it (probably very widely known now) and am I being a little too paranoid in thinking that the timing since 9/11, the subsequent war and now the economic crash all seem a little too convenient?
I have a feeling that Bush will bring these changes in before he steps down, poor Obama will be pinned with the blame (as Noobs tend to do) and the good ol republics will "step back in too clean up the mess".
What worries me though, is that by creating the NAU, wouldn't that render the Constitution completely redundant?

Although he toppled the Iraqi government in two weeks, I doubt even President Bush could create a North American Union in three weeks.
You should be worried about an NAU, because the freedoms we enjoy in America now would be cast aside in any bastardized conglomeration of Canada, the United States and Mexico. There's a whole host of freedom of speech issues Canada does not afford its citizens, and Mexico...well Mexico is Mexico.

See the second last article quoted.
"To that end, the Task Force proposes the creation by 2010 of a North American community to enhance security, prosperity, and opportunity. We propose a community based on the principle affirmed in the March 2005 Joint Statement of the three leaders that "our security and prosperity are mutually dependent and complementary." Its boundaries will be defined by a common external tariff and an outer security perimeter within which the movement of people, products, and capital will be legal, orderly and safe. Its goal will be to guarantee a free, secure, just, and prosperous North America."

And, in 'protecting' the American people from these 'weapons,' he's pissed away how much money?
Last I checked, going into massive debt was bad for a country.
Yeah, he's been a really great President.
