@metal-brain saidIt was always difficult to create policies when people have different values and priorities. We have a widening in the views on goals with Progressives hoping to move Democrats to the left and Trump supporters hoping to move the Republican party in a more extreme direction and I'm not sure these real difference are solvable.

However, your ideas (and I'm not sure how to measure how widespread they are) create a new layer of difficulty -- it seems impossible to create sensible policies when in addition to disagreeing on goal, we also disagree so much about facts.

Also, we're living in a simulation. The existence of physical rules and insurmountable barriers to travel outside our solar system is proof. There used to be a movie called "Shazam" starring Sinbad but then someone erased it. I've seen the movie.
