"As has become the new normal, Fox News also promoted a parade of dishonest right-wing talking points to its sizable audience. Laura Ingraham declared that “the Democrats are showing [the country] what real power is … the type of power we usually see dictators exercise in China and Cuba and North Korea.” Sean Hannity complained that “the foundation of our constitutional republic” is “literally dying before your eyes.”

That rhetoric is, obviously, detached from reality. The United States is not a third world country. Trump got his day in court and was treated by the judge, by all accounts, quite fairly. Biden did not direct so-called deep state forces to engage in 'lawfare' against Trump.

But the endless streams of poison flooding into the public discourse comes with consequences. It not only offers a preview of just how ugly the 2024 race will soon become, it sets the stage for Trump, if he manages to make his way back into the White House, to abuse power and deform the federal institutions to serve his purposes.

Perversely, it has primed a swath of Americans into believing that such behavior would not only be warranted, but necessary."

Same as it ever was... in 2015.

But at least there is a multi billion dollar court case hanging over them this time.
Their lies are catching up to them.
Whether it will be enough to swing the election is up in the air.

The question is whether a news outlet blaring that 'someone' is a political prisoner when he is just a common crook deserves a broadcast license. Broadcast bandwidth is publicly owned property allocated to stations that serve the public interest.

I'm not sure Fox News does anymore. The Fairness Doctrine always ensured that news stories were presented in a balanced way - which is definitely in the public interest - but that has been abandoned.

Maybe Fox News should devolve into a YouTube Channel or a conspiracy website and their bandwidth can be allocated to Al Jazeera or BBC or some other more balanced news source.

By "all accounts" he was treated fairly?

C'mon.

And gee big surprise CNN wants to censor Fox.

More trolling from the "Democracy Advocate."

Agreeing with Trump is just an ignorantly bad look... for everyone, even the already terminally stupid.

Of course. Completely fairly. US justice is way too slow. But if it has a bias, it is against blacks and Latinos and for rich white guys.

FYI, Trump isn't black or Latino. He's a rich white guy. So the cards were stacked in his favor. And he still lost. So he must have been guilty as sin.

He's white so he must be guilty eh? Even just trolling I'd think you'd be embarrassed to write such things.

I mean if people want news there is the PBS newshour. Slow and deliberate and bland.

But add music and "expert opinionators" and rapid cuts and you have a show. It's the mainstream most watched 'news' program in the country, so they are doing something right in terms of entertainment.

Not news, but extremely popular.

Edit: it's like half the country started mistaking shows like 'the masked singer' for music. Ah right, we did didn't we. Ar one point the lines between reality TV and reality were clear, but now?

He wrote the exact opposite.
