“The share of the public who considers the US a reliable partner has declined steeply in many countries since we last asked this question in 2022,” explained the Pew Research Centre in a report on its latest findings. (Cough, cough, since Trump).
The downward trend was worse in countries with longstanding economic and security ties to the United States. One good example was Canada, where 83% said the United States was a reliable partner in 2022. That figure has fallen to 35% in 2026.
When asked if the United States contributed to peace and stability, 63% of respondents said ‘not too much’ or ‘not at all,’ while 35% responded that the US contributed ‘a great deal’ or ‘a fair amount’ to peace and stability in the world.
The Pew Research Center points out that 60% of Germans three years ago thought the United States considered the interests of other countries. The latest survey showed that the share of Germans who hold this belief had fallen to 26% by 2026.
“The share of the public saying the U.S. respects personal freedoms is the lowest it’s been in several countries we have surveyed for years, including Australia, Brazil, Chile, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Kenya, Mexico, the Netherlands, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, South Africa, South Korea, and Sweden,” the Pew Research Centre reported.
Trump didn’t fare any better than his country. The majority of those polled 76% noted that they had no confidence in Trump’s leadership of world affairs. Only 23% of people surveyed told pollsters that they had confidence in the US President.
The latest findings from the Pew Research Center provided a very interesting look into how the world now views the United States more than a year into Trump’s second term in office, and the results were not good, nor were they surprising. Trump has been bad for the United States, at least according to how the 36 nations polled view the situation.
Heh this was probably spoken by a french tourist on one of his 30 minimum paid vacation days he is entitled to in France. he gorged himself on crappy (yet undoubtedly tasty) american food filled with corn syrup and he will go back to commie France and good healthcare before he gets diabeetus.
He didn't stay long enough to hear the no's the americans get on a daily basis. Can i get healthcare? Can my kids get education? Can i get paid sick leave? Can i get police that won't shoot me?

France is a beautiful country. The Alps normally Paris and the Riviera all or Class. No dispute, but I wasn't talking about scenery or cuisine. I was talking about what a nation or its people the United States has attracted more immigrants than any country in history because millions believed it gave them the greater opportunity to build a better life. we leave the world in innovation, entrepreneurship, higher education, charity giving, giving, and have produced extraordinary share of the worlds, leading companies, inventions, and Nobel prize winners.
For you to reduce America to trailer trash guns and burgers ignores everything from Silicon Valley to the Apollo program from the constitution to jazz music, Hollywood, the Internet, modern aviation, life-saving medicines, and the fact that people from virtually every nation still aspire to come here. Tell us what you 'intorduce to the world'...vesides bicycles.
In a nutshell, little fellow, a country's greatness is not measured by its snails or its mountains. It's measured by the opportunities creates for ordinary people. There are those of you on this Forum who claim there no are no opportunities. Pitiful. Now go hp in that vert and drive around your mountainsides.
