Cuba, China and Venezuela come to mind when one considers what happens when the rich are made poor... errrr.... the poor are made EQUAL.... errrr....
Can anyone explain why dems want to make Rich people poor as the preferred method to accomplishing "equality"? Why do repubs think it better to let poor people try to become rich? Are they heartless? Or smart?
Beats me. I do know that we need to elect dems every few years just so we can remember what failure feels like. There is nothing like a good dose of Socialism Ala Carter to purk up a good commie twenty year plan.

Is it socialism/communism or capitalism? Also, is economic oppurtuning and growth considered to be "good"? Perhaps there are those who say that one should only have enough resources to eat and provide shelter and that is all. Anything additional contributes to ones greed perhaps?

Originally posted by whodeyfor starters, markets could use more regulation, more transparency. for twenty or so years, pundits and politicians have prostrated themselves before the Holy icon of "Free Markets"- so that no one dares question it's sanctity, but deregulation in banking and loan markets have created a wild-west lawlessness where only the most predetory lenders are rewarded. and when the bottom drops out, then the govt will bail out the banks with billions of our tax dollars. Republican's love welfare, just not for the poor.

(edit) So, in short: regulate the markets and End Corporate Welfare.
