During a demo in Berlin may 8, 2005 the following slogans were to be seen:
"Frei wollen wir sein, nicht "befreit" !
("We want to be free, not "freed".)
and:
"Befreiung ? Ja ! Befreit die Welt van USA"
("Liberation ? Yes ! Free the world of the USA" )

Again the extremists have the same goals. How come both the Extreme Left and the Extreme Right want to be freed from the United States ? Anyone knows how to explain these similarities ?

But I think the saying "It's tough at the top" has some relevance here.

Alfons Heck, former Hitler youth officer: "What happens to Israel, eventually is going to be the fate of the world".
I think for the same reasons they are anti-US, Israel is popularly viewed as being in the pocket of the US. (My personal view differs from this somewhat, but it's not entirely off the mark I feel)
The important thing to recognise is that it is not just extremists that oppose the actions of the US and Israel in their separate and common spheres of influence, it is just that the extremists shout loudest about it.
Originally posted by agrysonThe other important thing to note is that those non extremists that agree with the extremists are the same ones that have proven unwilling to take the action necessary to defend feedoms. Even when its their own on the line.

Originally posted by MerkThere are a few different viewpoints on what the term "defending freedoms" means. What do you mean by it in this context?

Originally posted by agrysonThat's fabulous. You figured out how to walk around the issue.
There are many extremists in Iraq who feel they are doing just that.
How about, oh, let's see... All those Europeans that hate Israel and America support for it. Whens the last time they stood up for even their own feedoms before it was too late?
If their own feedom isn't important enough to them to act when necessary, are we seriously to consider their views on protecting liberty?
Or the Russians who know nothing of freedom, only about repressing it?
The best I can figure, the non extremists that are siding with the extremists come from cultures that have long ago forgotten that liberty requires it be defended.
Originally posted by MerkWhat do you mean "too late"? I am pretty sure that I have more of the really important freedoms here in Europe than anywhere else. What freedoms have been lost?

Originally posted by MerkI'm sorry, it's just that the language you use could just as easily be from a terrorist defending what he or she sees as their liberty.

I think you'll find that when ANYONE has been sticking up for the jews in the 30's and 40's it was the communists.
