Gaetz: Trump should pardon Snowden

Mr. Gaetz discussed having argued on Twitter with House Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney of Wyoming, who recently called Mr. Snowden a traitor unworthy of receiving a presidential pardon.

“Liz Cheney, in her opposition to a Snowden pardon, is standing up for the national security apparatus that failed in Iraq, that failed in Afghanistan, that wants to keep us in war in Yemen and in Somalia and really every place on the planet earth where they think they can make a buck off of U.S. military engagement,” argued Mr. Gaetz.

FWIW, I tend to agree. What Snowden did was certainly against the terms of his employment and I'd have no problem with him being fired or sued for breaking his NDA. But what he did was probably out of sincere patriotism and jailing him seems unnecessarily harsh.

I disagree.

He is a traitor to his country.

Trump leaked classified intel the a hostile foreign power behind closed doors. And then sided with Russia over the U.S. government on live TV.

Is he a traitor too?

I agree Snowden should be pardoned. What he did was a crime but it was not motivated by malice or self-serving reasons. He thought his actions were for the greater good.

A traitor to his country or the corrupt few that run this aspect of the government?

I'm glad that the United States protects us from almost anything.

If they have to do stuff on the side to keep freedom intact then I'm ok with it.

They don't spy on citizens that have nothing to hide. Like me and most of us.

If they have to do illegal activities to catch potential criminals or stop potential attacks then I say go ahead.

At the end of the day they work towards the greater good for North America.

Snowden crossed the line.

He is a traitor.

You say pardon Snowden who squealed to Russia about what the USA was doing and is currently helping them but you think what Trump did is inexcusable?

Your standards are inconsistent 🙄

I don't know enough about Mr. Snowden's situation to have an opinion, but I do know this Presidential pardon issue needs a serious overhaul. IMO - Presidents of both parties have been passing out too many get out of jail free cards.

North Americans take what they have for granted (Not his exact words)

We have what we have because of the government spying and watching.

Agreed.

It's a small distortion in the Space Time continuum 😏

@mchill

Could be...

Or a glitch in the Matrix? 🤔

What proof do you have Snowden this? Why do conservatives just assert things as fact without showing evidence?

This makes it hard to take your posts seriously.

Anyway, you dodged the question. Unlike your Snowden assertion, we actually have evidence Trump leaked classified information to the Russians, and evidence that Trump sided with Putin over the U.S. government in front of the whole world.

Is Trump a traitor? Don't dodge this time.

@vivify

No evidence?
Snowden did what he did. We know that.

Snowden is living in Russia no?

You think they would allow that without him telling everything?

First you say Russians are bad but now you assume they are compassionate?
They definitely interrogated him for weeks before they agreed to let him stay.

Your standards are inconsistent!

Trump's minor slip up was minor and was not serious at all.

It's only funny if you hear the accent.
