The Republican-controlled election board in Georgia granted "local officials" the ability to delay or even block certification of votes if they disagree with election results.

There's no clearly defined requirement for blocking election results. This means if Republicans want to cite debunked conspiracy theories as their reason, that is enough to block votes.

From the article:

In Arizona, two Cochise County supervisors face felony charges for delaying certifying the 2022 election results.

In New Mexico, Otero County officials talked up conspiracy theories about Dominion voting machines when they initially declined to certify the election results

This new law in Georgia could cause other Republican-controlled election boards to legalize blocking election results they don't like.

I do not condone that, but there is election meddling that you should not condone. They are trying to keep Kennedy's name on the ballot in the swing states after trying so hard to keep him off the ballot before he suspended his campaign.

Clear election meddling. Will you speak out against that?

There's a paywall so I can't read the article.

Is there a reason cited? Like missed deadline to remove name from ballot?

The law applies to RFK, Jr. just like it does to everybody else.

That's a dumb law that should be removed. But that statute existed before RFK became a candidate, so you can't blame partisanship.

MB: is your intent to distract from the OP? Are you going to keep to talking about any and everything other than the GOP's corrupt actions in Georgia?

Kennedy is on the ballot in Michigan as a candidate for the Natural Law Party, which nominated him at its convention this year. Cheri Hardmon, a spokesperson for the Michigan secretary of state's office, confirmed that "minor party candidates cannot withdraw, so his name will remain on the ballot in the November election."

He did not even run in the natural law party. That was beyond his control. You cannot blame Kennedy for that either!

Harris leads Trump in Georgia by a very slim margin. Chances are Harris will win and the GOP will block certification of those votes.

Not true; he met with the NLP's chairman seeking the nomination.https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2024/04/18/robert-f-kennedy-jr-rfk-gets-spot-on-michigan-presidential-ballot-as-natural-law-party-nominee/73370615007/

Okay, but he did that in the democrat party too before he became an independent. An independent is not a third party.

Will Joe Biden's name be on the ballot in Michigan? You mean major political parties are not 3rd parties so that does not count? That is blatant discrimination against 3rd party candidates who drop out and endorse someone else.

As viv said, it is a stupid law.

RFK, Jr. sought the NLP line because it avoided him the chore of gathering petitions to get on the Michigan ballot as an independenthttps://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2024/04/18/robert-f-kennedy-jr-rfk-gets-spot-on-michigan-presidential-ballot-as-natural-law-party-nominee/73370615007/

Stupid or not, he implicitly agreed to follow Michigan's election laws by doing so.

If it was a fair law Biden would still be on the ballot in MI.
Kamala did not win the primary election.

It should apply to ALL political parties. That law is unconstitutional and should be struck down by the MI supreme court. It is discriminatory.
