I'm curious to hear some thoughts from US citizens on this issue (and form anyone else who's got 2 cents to spare). For those not familiar with the term, it refers to creative redistricting to maximize the number of seats your party is likely to get. Both the Democrats and Republicans do it.

It's a cool mathematical puzzle, theoretically. But in practice,
it is an embarassment, and it's one more reason why I avoid
any affilliation with politics.

It's cool to see how the Americans came back from the ruler&pencil-method they used to make the states. I don't know which is better, however.

Happens everywhere where an election is decided on areas won, not a popular vote. Only way round it is to use the proportion of the total vote cast to decide the election.

Now there is an idea - a US presidental election decided direcvtly by all Americans. Might even help lift voter turnout.
