I think Debates is probably the best place for this:
Has anybody ever found an Unbiased report on global warming? I've done quite a bit of research on climate change and global carbon levels as part of college and now my job..... But I don't think I've every read a paper thats been Unbiased.... They're always either shouting "we're all screwed" (crazy enviro's usually funded by fringe groups) or "its not happening" (Scientists nearly always on the pay roll of major industry).
I've come to the conclusion myself that cutting down all the trees, killing coral etc, which act as carbon sinks, AND generating more and more carbon can't possibly be good for the environment, which by proxy can't be good for us.... But I definitely don't think its going to kill us all....

every science report that appeals to the public has to be biased.
the only way you can be unbiased is produce a mile long report of numbers and statistics. now try and make the public read that and act on it whether you want them to tree hug and sing kumbaya or buy a humvee and drive over a bunnie and some rose bushes.
Originally posted by ZahlanziOh I think we could come fairly close to reducing ourselves below the stable gene pool line alright. As for your radioactive wasteland bit.... It a bit extremist. Nuclear power is certainly one of the best short term solutions to or current problems.... Its Clean and produces exponentially less waste than fossil fuels..... The problem is it will never be viewed as short term, we'll become Dependant on it and then stop researching the alternatives....

As to the Unbiased paper, it would be possible to produce a paper which presents all the arguments to date in condensed form, for and against. Then provides no conclusions and simply lets us decide for ourselves no?
Originally posted by MexicoI think we're looking at this all wrong. Instead of all this gloom and doom, we should ask ourselves: What are the benefits of "global warming"? Here's my short list:

Fewer deaths from cold weather.
Oil under the Arctic easier to drill for.
More beachfront property in Arctic.
Canada becomes a wine-making powerhouse.
Longer growing season in Siberia.
We stave off next Ice Age.

Rising sea levels - more beaches, and the weather to go with them....
More extreme weather - Means more extreme sunshine, and better snow for the winter sports
More rain for dessicated regions due to more widespread monsoonal weather patterns....
Warmer seas for the fish......
More C02 for the trees to breath....
The list is endless...
😀

general change of climate meaning farmers are no longer able to grow their traditional crops.
change of climate will mean that many long lived trees and animals are now in an innappropriate location.
possible mass extinctions of large percentages of the species,

The people who wrote it were trained not to be bias, but then again they had to agree with government representatives when writing the report... not ideal, but this is the best I can think of.
Then again it's near impossible to write something without someone adding a critique on bias, as we all have a self-interest of some degree.

trees is goint to have an impact, but at best our understanding of climate
issues is guess work.
I'm more worried about the knock-on effects of the financial repurcussions
to these changes. It's unlikely any of us will bake to death!

Originally posted by MexicoWhile not a scientific article per se, the following link gives an assesment of the current research. As always, it's very hard to understand what you mean by biased, I mean, most scientific articles don't make any claims as regards mankinds fate as a result of climate change, but rather report what our best understanding of the facts suggest will be the effects on the climate. No more no less.
Cheers for that Ill have a read when I can find the time.... And possibly comment a bit on it...
If your definition of unbiased is a report that you agree with, then that in itself is a bias surely?
