YouGov Poll: GOP Gains 1 Point on Generic Ballot After Abortion Decision

Democrats might seek to make the midterms a one-issue referendum on abortion, but the latest YouGov polling shows Republicans have gained one point on the generic midterm ballot after the Supreme Court constitutionally kicked the issue of abortion law to the states.

Interactive Polls tweeted the results Wednesday (LV stands for likely voters):

"Generic Congressional Ballot Trends: Before vs After Roe v Wade decision
Republicans/Democrats (YouGov, LV)
June 21 poll: 45/41 (R+4)
June 27 poll: 45/40 (R+5)

Republicans GAINED 1 Point after SCOTUS Overturned Roe v Wade"

I think there's two other post Dobbs polls in the Real Clear Politics Generic Congressional aggregate which show Dems up 5 and 7 points respectively.

And wait until States start enforcing their bans; Texas' Attorney General already declared he was going to fine companies that reimbursed their workers for trips from Texas to obtain abortions elsewhere. How do you think that will sell?

CORRECTION: That was Democrats up 3 and 7 points in the two other polls. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/other/2022-generic-congressional-vote-7361.html

And since you like polls sooooooooooooooo much now; how about the latest Quinnipiac poll conducted mostly after Dobbs which shows Warnock with a 10 point lead over Walker? https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2022/senate/ga/georgia-senate-walker-vs-warnock-7329.html

Once laws like this get passed and started to enforce over the next few months, what do you think the political reaction will be?:

"National Right to Life has outlined its priorities in model legislation that it rolled out ahead of last week's ruling .....................

The proposal suggests that criminal penalties should extend to individuals who aid or abet illegal abortions, which would include giving instructions about self-administered abortions or means of obtaining an "illegal abortion" over the phone, the internet or another form of communication. The group suggests criminal penalties should also include hosting or maintaining a website that "encourages or facilitates efforts to obtain an illegal abortion," offering or providing "abortion doula" services and making referrals to an abortion provider.
The group recommends states allow civil action to be brought by state or local officials or relatives of the pregnant woman against a person or entity that violates the abortion law.
"In addition to criminal penalties and medical license revocation, civil remedies will be critical to ensure that unborn lives are protected from illegal abortions," the memo says."

"Warnock now leads by twice as many points as the number of kids Walker forgot he has."
