US evangelicals boost green lobby.

Environmentalists are blaming US President George Bush and his friends in the energy industry for wrecking a G8 deal on global warming before he has even boarded the plane to the summit in Gleneagles.

Coming from his usual critics, this is unlikely to trouble the president as he heads for the summit, but he faces growing pressure to give greater priority to the environment from one of his most loyal domestic constituencies: the religious right.

Evangelical Christians form a crucial plank in Mr Bush's formidable political base (he is an evangelical himself) and care for the environment is becoming an important part of their agenda.

Are you telling me that evangelicals care about the environment?! There may be some, but I can assure you that cheap energy is a sacrament to Bush's political/theocratical base.

Joe,

"Green" is what MoveOn did with all the bio-garbage paint they purchased when they sold the communist store. They can't call themselves communist anymore, so they are now "Green". Don't let it fool you. A commie is still just a mindless fool, no matter its colour.

Because they are still a big part of the evil in the world. They gained control of almost all the educational systems of the world twenty years ago. They no longer dare use the term "Communist"... except in Europe. But their goal is still alive. The destruction of "civilization sustained by democracy" in favor of chaos so that the "politically elite" can return to the good old days of corruption and gangsterism still alive and kicking in Russia, Georgia,China and Vietnam and Cuba etc.

I just feel that they are winning the propaganda war. They have made it very "uncomfortable" for people to use words like "commie". I find this extremely amusing, so I go out of my way to wag at them in this very "Un-PC" manner.

Great fun. Try it. You'll like it. And once every year or so, somebody asks you why you are being so "offensive". Then you will know where their heart really lies. Only commies still care when one makes fun of commies. Mind-wipes might cringe, but commies get real "red" around the collar.

ok... people who believe in the idea of Communism want to ruin civilization, or corrupt politicians who use Communism as their political platform want to ruin civilization?

Yes. The only thing it (communism) has ever done is enslave people and allow the rule of a political elite who inevitably become tangled with corruption and crime.

Or have you a shining example or two of how wonderful it is? I especially liked the gang of five and the "great cultural revolution". Awe inspiring... that.

i dont have any "good" experiences. almost all the people I talked to hated life under communism... but also said that life as a fledgling democracy wasnt much better... hopefully that will change.... i will say that there were a few people that liked life under communism (but they were the "select" few)... however, the idea of communism itself seems nice on paper... even though it obviously doesnt work... but then again, what form of government is uncorruptable? none. not even democracy itself.

I will just argue a bit that by dismissing "all" governments as corruptible, you are part of the problem, not the solution. If you really believe that government is corrupt, then it is your moral duty to try and remedy that. I rather think that you are just spouting what the educational system has taught you. That is why I don't like commies. They have turned it all into a cesspool of "relative values" where there is no "good" and there is no "evil". Do you see how that aids the 8th century barbarians who attacked London today?

There is good. There is evil. Good And Bad people fight and die for Ideas. Two of the best Ideas to fight and die for are "Freedom" and "Liberty". One of the worst is "Sharia"

what would you say if i were to tell you that the same teacher that told me that "there wasn't a perfect "system"" also told me that "relativity" is the major threat to the world? would it surprise you?

No. That is part and parcel of "double speak" as Orwell defined it in his excellent supplement on language at the end of "1984". In order to destroy language, introduce several "possibilities" of meaning then point out that several are equally valid. That is the way it is done. So. No. You experienced exactly what the teacher did. Mind-wipe is like that.

You prove the point. There "ain't a perfect system" but "relativity will destroy the world". Say what? Double speak?

There "IS" a perfect system. It requires parsing of every notion into component parts. Then each part is evaluated for "mutually exclusive" traits. If it is double speak... make a new Idea in your head. Don't believe it just because an "authority" says it. Even svw. Especially svw. Think it out and make sure that you ain't going in circles because you can't discover "a great truth". There are very few "great truths". That is why I mockingly post all my "famous sayings" all the time. Blather.

Complete blather.

Thanks for the link.

Green evangelicals grow as a logical consequence of serious Bible study. I'm happy to see that they read the newspapers, too, and are drifting away from Bush's unrighteous agenda.

Alas, few are likely to go so far as to follow Jim Wallis (author of God's Politics--http://www.harpercollins.com/global_scripts/product_catalog/book_xml.asp?isbn=0060558288--into the Democratic fold. But, one can hope, and one can pray (although I suspect G-d has concerns more important than American politics).

You are aware that you didn't dare use the word "GOD"?

Why is that? Conditioning? Think about it.

GAWD! GOOOOD! GGOd! God. GOD.

I know that it ain't PC... but it is liberating.

Gosh, what have you been liberated from?

All this talk of linguistic liberation makes you sound a bit like my buddy Jacques Derrida--he was into that.

God Bless you, and I raise a glass of Kentucky distilled spirits to Wyoming or Utah or wherever you happen to be.
