To kick it off I'll propose a topic that I will argue in the affirmative, that George W Bush, the 43 rd President of the United States of America, has shown himself to be the greatest President the US has had the good fortune to be blessed with for the past 70 years.
[edit] Oh yeah and try to give reasons by way of examples so as to avoid sarcasm which may be very tempting for some.
And in support of my claim, I give the following.
He has acknowledged that illegals make up an important part of the US economy and actually wants to give them a legal framework to be assimilated.
He appointed a woman as Secretary of Sate, who also happened to be black.
His middle east road map with an agenda to try and instill a desire to embrace democracy is both ambitious and daring, and if successful will usher in an era of peaceful prosperity in the region that will benefit generations to come.
** PS and yes this is the Anti typical debate, only a bit more attention grabbing

Originally posted by kmax87About the first reason--the illegal aliens: Bush, McCain, Kennedy, Graham can all share the blame for screwing that up. The majority of Americans....LEGAL Americans....want them arrested and removed from the country. I've heard that referred to as "throwing the bodies over the wall", but I don't condone killing them; just gently place their bodies over the wall. But if they try to come back in illegally, shoot them.

I would have preferred a competent SecofState. Gender, race, etc. don't matter.
He seems to have this mistaken idea that "they hate us for our freedom", and that all the world wants the same "freedom and democracy" we have, showing that he doesn't even know that the country he presides over isn't even a democracy. The middle east can't handle our kind of government; they need a king/General with the power and might to get things done--and sadly, they respond best to tyrants. That's just the way that it is.
So, I'd rate those 3 Bush "contributions" were all failures. But hey, he'll never rate dead last. He's not as bad as LBJ was.
