Is it possible that the state of true happines is not unlike the state of death?

I'd like to hear some comments before I explain.

it's possible, but when i think of happiness i think that there must be an agent that is happy. in death - i believe - all sense of identity is gone. to have a conscious that is uncluttered by any consideration of the self may be the ultimate in bliss or happiness or whatever, but in death can that consciousness still exist? confuscius says: how can we know anything about death when we don't even know about life?

I am not sure what definitions of 'true happiness' and 'death' you have in mind, but my first impression would be that the two states are mutually exclusive (one requiring consciousness as a necessary condition, and the other requiring lack of consciousness as a necessary condition).

Is the agents name "Bob"? And what makes Bob "happy"? He must have hated his client.

Where did it go and who knows that it's gone? bob? Are you sure that when we die we are not just dead and therefore ... dead?

To have a "conscious" anything is rather a miracle. To endow it with "magic" is amazing. What does "uncluttered by any consideration of the self" mean to a dead man?

confuscius says: how can we know anything about death when we don't even know about life

Confuscius said that? Before or after he died? Or did you get this from his "agent" named "bob"? btw... It is easy to know about death. It means you or sombody else is "dead". Ceased to function. Kaput. Ended. No more. Deceased.

It is also very easy to know about life. It's this thing we do each day until we die.

A famous Zen master was once asked by a student: “What happens when we die?”

Zen Master: I have no idea.

Student: But—you’re a famous and respected Zen master. You know all the teachings of the Buddha. How can you not know such a thing?

ZM: Yes, but I’m not a dead Zen master....

Of course it's possible. Anything's possible.
