I don't want a monarchy anymore for about a zillion reasons:
it is undemoratic - why should someone who is unelected have any say at all over the law-maiking process (unless they given a donation to the labour party, of course);
it is a throwback to medieval times - the very idea that this women and her fruitcake offspring are somehow better than the rest of us, so can reign over us and showed be bowed/curtsied to is just nonsense;
it is about the Yookay being a christian country - the monarch is installed as head of the church of england, and is declared Defender of the Faith (against whom, exactly?).
Etc etc.

"Lets wish the Queen a very happy birthday. And when she goes, lets bury this ludicrous institution."
Although whether the replacement head os state would be a lesser evil is a matter for debate.

I will be a supporter of the monarchy as long as our present Queen lives (she is a lovely lady, I've met her once), when Charles becomes King, however ... I will suddenly and viciously turn against the monarchy.
I'm no royalist but everyone I've spoken to who has met her says she is an astonishingly knowledgable woman on everything from animal husbandry to town planning.
Her husband, however...
When she was on her way to her Coronation back in the 50s, her carriage navigated through streets of Cockney women and housewives who were lining the sides of the road to cheer and wave her on her way, just as many of the tabloids are now.
You know what her response was? It was "Don't they have work to do?"
Bollocks to the King Mob.
