Hey Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly,
And there's gonna be Hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell!
It's gonna feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you...
Brought to you courtesy of the Red, White and Blue!
Oh, Justice will be served and the battle will rage.
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage
You'll be sorry that you messed with the US of A
'Cuz we'll put a boot in your ass
It's the American way

Here's a further question for you:

Say a person jumps out of the 80th story window of the World Trade Centre. Assuming 2 metres per story and ignoring air resistance how long before they go smoosh on the pavement? What about if the same person were to jump out of the same window holding a toddler (model as a bowling ball weighing 6kg), would she hit the ground faster or slower?

I don't think you would feel so nonchalant if you had been there.

How long would I have had to feel nonchalant if I was to jump out of the 80th story window given the above approximations?

I assume that the baby and woman still exclude wind resistance, correct?

Well, unless I'm mistaken the first person will simply fall at the speed of gravity. -160meters/-9.8m/s = 16.33 seconds. And the extra weight of the second and third people wouldn't affect the speed at which they fall. So that is also 16.33 seconds until smoosh.

BTW:I know this problem was meant as an insult to America blah, blah, blah, but it's always fun to answer physics problems. No matter how offensive they are. And besides, a lot of American society sucks.

Edit...oops misread the meters, recalculating...
Wrong.

a = 9.8
v = 9.8t
d = 4.9t^2

Solving the last equation for d=160 we find t = 5.714 seconds.

Hm, help me out with this, I just started physics...

Wouldn't the formula be..

X-X(sub 0)= V(sub 0)(t) + (.5)(a)(t)^2 ?

What's the reason for the exclusion of initial velocity times time?

I see that I was wrong, of course, didn't bother with the displacement formula (generally a pretty big mistake...)

I ignored the initial speed times time because initial velocity is zero and any product containing zero is zero.

Ah yeah, of course. For whatever reason I was thinking the initial was -9.8m/s.

Is it a trick question?
How do Americans number their floors?
Ground, 1, 2, 3 ... like in UK
or
Ground, 2, 3 ... because then the 80th floor is at 158m
