There seems to be a lot of hate on this sight. I hate that! It is true that I take part in the hating as I truly hate people that foster the image of the ugly American. A lot of the hate seems to stem from the same people, myself included. You know who you are. Tell us what you really hate.

For example:
I hate people that try to pigeon hole everything as left or right, democrat or republican, liberal or conservative.

I hate clicking the move button only to realise, too late, that my opponent can take my queen with their next move. :'(

I hate it when people ignore reasonable, logical arguments and keep spouting their flawed claims unchanged. I hate it when people introduce unjustified insults into a debate, and when people care more for winning than for being honest and resolving problems and clearing up confusion. I hate it when people are overbearing.

I hate racists, homophobes and anyone else who are prejudice against a particular group of people.

Oh and Scientologists. And people who make no attempt to use good spelling and grammar.

Pertinent Oscar Wilde quote:

"Argument are to be avoided; they are always vulgar and often convincing."

I hate physical confrontation and the use of metaphor to replace linear reason. I also hate people with confidence above their abilities. But above all I hate irrational thought and bias based on religious or supernatural belief conditioning.

I knew one day someone would find something in a post of mine.
Wow did I mess up that sentence. I think I got distracted in the middle of typing it.

I hate words like homophobes, used to apply a negative connotation to someone with an opposing view.

Homophobe: a person who hates or fears homosexual people

I was using it exactly as defined. Unless of course you weren't referring to my use of it.

Look, homophobia isn't an 'opposing view', really, because nobody in the history of ever has proposed it as a serious logical thesis--arguments can be made from several viewpoints which show that ethically, or even practically if preferred, homophobia is a less sensible view than some of the alternatives. Instead, any homophobia I have ever encountered or seen described stems from ignorance, religion or the very substantial intersection of those two worldviews. It isn't mine or anyone else's place to say that one can't have homophobic views, but to express them will indicate to others that one is not troubled by having one's ideas founded on nothing especially sensible.

Phobias have nothing to do with hate. Here is the actual definition:
Homophobia- Fear of sameness, monotony or of homosexuality or of becoming homosexual.

You use it to imply that anyone who does not care for homosexuality, fears it. You use it to call someone a name.

Quite right!

So let's quote Yoda then, shall we?

Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate...hate leads to suffering.....

The cause of homophobia is fear, but it projects itself as hatred.
