There was another news article recently from Saudi Arabia, where a young girl was gang raped by five men and the female VICTIM was sentenced to 90 lashes. Dat Sharia law is some great stuff. You have to wonder why the various women's rights organizations aren't screaming bloody murder over how women are treated under Muslim "law".

I don't wonder about it at all.

They .. womens right orgs .. have different priorities IMO, like the "right" of 15 yr old schoolgirls to blow the teacher.

Now that's important stuff

Did you have a hand in drafting American Foreign Policy? I think not. Why would you assume that I was anti-American. Machines like computers operate with a similar on off logic. Either/or,black/white,left/right.

I've met enough Americans to know that you with your binary mindset are just a loud boorish vocal minority. Like a computer its all GIGO anyway. I don't expect any sense from someone with such an acute polarized view on everything.

Gotta respect all foreign cultures.
Isn't it funny when you post a thread abou any countries wrong doing no matter where you come from and BAM🙄 instantly all the Haters come screaming about America. It is TOO FUNNY.😀

No really I think this thread had two posts including the origanal posters remarks, and the haters came right out of the wood works.

There are plenty of bashing threads out there for you to pick up on.

B52EWO, I think that this is a terrible thing.

For anyone who knows, is there prior knowledge of all the citizens what the laws are and what the consequences are for them there?

It would be incredibly naive to suggest that anyone would just randomly post about backwardness in the world, just as an observation, without trying to manipulate those facts in a way that would generate capital for the ways of the west. Considering where the focus of US led military intervention is, it beggars belief that posts such as these are not intended as propaganda as a sort of 'told you so' , 'pat on our backs', we're totally justified in whatever we do in the region.

To stand in judgment of a culture and a way of life that has stood the test of time many times that of the institution of a democracy of the people, shows incredible arrogance. You only have to look at the way the high ideals of that city on a hill, that would be a shining example to the rest of the world has already in its short history began to dismantle and tamper with the processes that are designed to protect the ordinary citizen, and regardless of your political persuasion or who you would like to blame, where are those constitutional safeguards when you consider how much the law now favors the rich and the powerful.

When you look at how a nation that purports to have moral agency over the rest of the world and then discover shocking systemic inequalities entrenched into its system, you have to ask the question.

Relative to the light and opportunity given those who live in the land of the free, how can you cry foul every time when someone within your number judges specific peoples outside your world, someone from the outside says hey before you start throwing stones have you had a look at your own record lately, in order to bring some context or balance to their judgment

If you are that insecure that you think criticism equates to HATE then get professional help. Has it ever occurred to any of you living inside of America that most people living in the West, in some form or another at different levels and layers to be sure, are absolutely cheering America on from the sidelines.

We've bought and loved your music, your movies, been obsessed to varying degrees with your lifestyle, and hoped that your social experiment with mass democracy would withstand all the pressures that the old world, with its entrenched expressions of power, being bound up in hereditary title and ideologies of authoritarian absolutism, would throw at you to try and claw back and reclaim the nation you all so patriotically will defend.

Democracy, Freedom and dare I say it, Truth Justice and the American Way of Life are very portable concepts and can be assimilated by anyone.

Criticism equals Hate, must be Newspeak where the President on record has said, in Orwellian shades, War is Peace.

The reason is that it's more pc to pander to foreign "cultures" - esp Islam - than to feminist/sexist issues which will always take second place when there's a conflict of interest. A case in point: here in little 'ol NZ, a female prison warden recently got into serious trouble for refusing to bend to Maori protocol that demanded all women sit behind men and not speak during certain "cultural" activities. She refused on the grounds that it was blatantly sexist. She was overruled and castigated, eventually losing her job over it.

The trouble with sharia law is that it is more religious than cultural. Islamic countries that observe it will never progress beyond the 12th century.

Now kmax, spend a few minutes of your time and quit looking out your blinds to see if the men in black are coming after you.😀

I have nothing against you but if you take a look at all of the posts by B52EWO, I think that you will see that he or she is not trying to manipulate you into coming too or siding with America,( you can take the tin foil off of your head now😀). What I think took place is that you looked at the posters profile and seen the flag and went to raving right away. Would you still have made the statements about America if it were a Aussie that started the post.

Or are you saying that anything posted by any American is propaganda?

First I didnt look at his profile.

Second I was responding to your post in a general way and I would have done so regardless of the nationality of the OP or the CP. Basically I dont have the time to go looking up someones flag to see where their bias comes from. My comments about the US I would make to anyone and I would be the last person to want to see anything that could undermine its future.

Thirdly, the foil comes in quite handy when I'm out riding my pushbike and I want to reheat some food I'm about to eat. Serves two purposes. One is I get use the environmentally friendly energy of the sun, thus making me feel even more smug about myself than I already am, and two I get the added benefit of being invisible to all surveillance.

You shouldn't have to defend yourself about questioning the motives
of America at the moment, try to remember that hundreds of thousands
of Iraqi men women and children are now dead because of this
administration.

What part of America is killing Iraqi's don't you agree with
or is it the biase towards truth that is worrying you?

kmax87 is right, there's a part of all of us that's encouraging
this war and I for one don't welcome the decline of America,
it's not in my interest. But the questions still have to be asked.
