Debates

Lots of pro-democracy lawmakers have resigned...

Chinese government condemns the resignations as a direct challenge to its authority (anyone see Cartman screaming it?)...

Political parties have been disbanded and activists have fled...

China has passed a law banning any political movement that wants independence...

Certainly looks like an open and democratic regime to me...

Will it have any impact on the trade deal going on today I want to know.
Do the other countries care? I hope there's more to money that well, money!

this *really* sucks.

same old chit from despotic regimes. just wave a magic wand and remove the four
principal opposition leaders under some dummy guise - like "a danger to societal safety", or some such grabage.

Whoever has the guns, RuLzE

And that is usually the people with the gold

That's only because Trump is among the few world leaders (if there are even any others) to openly challenge China and sign an execute order calling for Hong Kong's autonomy.

When people are under the thumb of an oppressive regime like China, anyone being on their side seems like a ray of hope, even if it comes from Trump.

Duchess deliberately ignores this and tries to falsely equate pro-democracy leaders with Trump in order to discredit them, due to her rabid pro-Chinese government jingoism.

I agree, and with all the world's ills right now, this one is so totally unnecessary.

Why must China take control of these people? They are no threat to China.

Latin name for a logical fallacy where in an argument, one attacks a person rather than their content.

Poor debate tactics here.

My statement was not a defense of Trump. You have a long history of poor reading comprehension, most recently when you thought a response to Earl of Trumps was aimed at you.

Note that Vivify presumably would condone Jimmy Lai's 'interference' on behalf of President Trump.

Singling out disreputable people as an example of the whole is a tactic of Fox News.

In Hong Kong, protesters say ‘thank you Donald Trump’

These protestors, who've endured China's oppression, aren't Trump-like businessmen trying to engage in corrupt behavior; they're people relieved that someone, anyone, stood up to China on their behalf, even if it's someone as unscrupulous as Trump.

Trying to equate those protestors with Trump is immoral, and expected behavior from Duchess.
