Has anyone heard about the campaign to get people to leave a post it behind saying, "How is that hope and change working for ya?" at the gas pumps, where prices are soaring above $4 a gallon and rising, or at the super market where grocery prices are soaring. Actually, I think it is pretty clever and to the point. Who in their right minds can argue with it?
Ok, its time for the crazies to come out. It's your time to shine!! 😀

Now we're treated to the same tired excuses, that it will take too long to drill our own oil. If we'd started drilling then we'd be three years ahead of where we are now.
Windmills and electric cars aren't going to cut it. When do you think the President will be driven in a hybrid?

Originally posted by badmoonI would say that one of the primary problems is inflation. Any idea why prices of gas AND food are going up? It's because Obama and his personal bank, the Fed, print money out their arse. Every time they print a trillion dollars out of thin air your bank account shrinks. When will those on the left say enough is enough?

Of course, its not only about continued failed energy policy and wreckless spending that we have seen for the last two administrations, its the continued wars abroad. What in the @@## has hope and change gotten us? Anyone?

Originally posted by whodeyBoth gas prices as well as grocery prices are low in the US compared to other Western countries with similar GDP per capita. Stop whining.

Increased gas prices in the US are the result of two things:
Lybian oil supply being cut off and decreased domestic oil production in the Gulf
Obama wants high gas prices so that we will be encouraged to use alternate fuels. It hurts, but it might work. The only question will be if he can survive an election when people are spending so much for gas.

Originally posted by badmoonTake a few moments, think and explain how speculation raises prices. As to the greed, July of 2006 gas prices hit $4.20. Why did they ever come down? Did greed go into remission?

By regulation, I presume you mean price controls. That really worked well under the Nixon administration.
Gas prices rising every spring is a supply problem and isn't at the same time. There is plenty of crude, but the US hasn't increased refinery capacity in between 30 and 40 years. Our refineries run so close to capacity, that when they shut down to stop producing fuel oil, and add capacity for gasoline (spring and summer blends), gasoline supplies get short.
If speculators bet wrong on the direction of prices, they lose as much as they gain when they bet correctly. In general, futures speculators have a gentling effect on commodity markets, smoothing out the bumps. The talking heads who blame speculators, are economic illiterates.
Originally posted by EladarOf course he doesn't want high gas prices. In fact, he probably knows it would be a good idea to raise the tax on petrol, but that would be electoral suicide.
