I don't think that would be a big threat, meteors are the ones that never reach the ground. Meteorites reach the ground. It is only every 15 million years or so, maybe 30 million that a really big one hits and only one in the last 4 billion years tore apart the planet itself, where another planet about the size of mars whacked into earth and created the moon. THAT would ruin your day. But at least 10% of life forms have survived EVERY one to hit the earth. So don't hold your breath.
