And guess what the purple states are?

That would be the ones bruised by the exhausting campaign.

On that note - did you hear about the tanker carrying red paint and the tanker carrying purple paint which collided. All the sailors were marooned.

Someone said we should be respectful.
You think people should respect something which doesn't impress them?

Full respect for joining the army - the experience you have had sounds to me like what the younger generations now feel that they can get away with because there is no sense of authority or respect. The army has to do what the government orders it to...I have respect for those people who have flown out to Iraq believing that they were acting in the interests of this country, but no respect for Blair for sending them on false claims in the first place. I think joining the army when you're younger can be a wonderful thing because it breeds qualities which will benefit you in life such as self-discipline and hard work, and I think its absolutely terrible that what you have done was rewarded by the immature behaviour you describe. But its the same everywhere isn't it. Our current society is producing generations believing that they can get away with things like this. Schools often give rewards to those who don't work to encourage them to, and the ones who do it by sticking in get nothing. Good on you for joining the army!

Of course, the BNP would have everyone in the army in their youth, and every citizen receiving rifle training, and every home in the UK keeping a gun. Whether they liked it or not.

What's wrong with compulsory national service?
Remember, in a land where guns are outlawed, only outlaws have them. Anyone who serves their country has the right to defend their home.
But that isnt what this thread was actually about. A show of support never hurt.

If you want to join the army fine: you'll be told what to do all day, you'll have to do things which you do not agree with, and you may have to kill someone or be killed.

However if you want to responsible for your own decisions then you must have the right not to serve.

Compulsory National service or an american draft are morally wrong.

National Guard Girl, don't argue with Redmike, as he is a socialist who would probably jump for joy at the downfall of the US. His system advocates social welfare(Tax dollars) for all people, regardless if they want to work or not. His system advocates the abolition of the military as he sees it as an affront to "peace-loving peoples" the world over. His system doesn't know the meaning of "service to country" as they are not patriotic; the very thought of patriotism nauseates them. His system probably advocates open borders the world over so anarchism and Balkanism can reign supreme. Am I correct, Redmike? If not, my bad....and my apologies, but I think I described the Socialist agenda fairly accurately, no?

Now, Nationalguardgirl, you are correct that people in America should respect the fact that you serve your country, if nothing else. They shouldn't kiss your a$$, but they shouldn't show disrespect either. The next time someone "disses" you, ask them how they feel about being forced to pray 5 times a day, wear a Bhurka 24/7, not be allowed to express their opinion, not be allowed to worship the God of their choice....or be allowed to NOT worship a God if they don't want to....ask them, then tell them to STFU....
