Given the 2% requirement of GDP, USA would meet that $508B. yet we pay $980B./
Canada GDP is $2.24T. 2% to NATO would be $40B, so you are certainly doing your part at $60B, I think that's right, my numbers are real general

It appears I have misread my numbers. It seems, although Canada has met the agreed on target of 2% of GDP as per NATO’s target on defence our actual amount that goes to NATO’s “common fund” is approx 450 million a far cry from 60 billion.😲🫢

They should not contribute anything. NATO is supposed to be a defense pact and Trump wants it to be an offense pact. Hegseth cried about how NATO would not help with the war against Iran. Why should they? NATO is not obligated to fight wars NATO members start.

NATO is not an offense pact. Why isn't anybody pointing that out except me?
Trump caused the problem and wants NATO to help him solve the problem he started. NATO members should be outraged Trump and Hegseth suggested such a stupid notion.

This one, I think it is Metal Brain, seems to be taking off on the approach of a pacifist, but this post is about an established doctrine of NATO, that each country participate proportionately. MB is questioning the doctrine itself.....its mission...something for another thread, maybe. You libs wear us out.
So back to the point. Members should comply to the agreed-upon proportions. This adage has been around for 10,000 years!

Whew. Like, if my chess club down at the YMCA agrees to a $5/week dues........A disgruntled member stands up and says..."We should not have to pay', or 'we should pay less'.....

It is written in the Bylaws, so he should file a proposal for change.....He still has to pay his damn dues as due!. oops, sorry, i get upset with people using inappropriate avenues, and, pacifists.

You are losing it. I wrote about contributions by country.

Latest info has Scotus determining that democrats are racist, given their decision. The best way to stop discriminating,,,,are you listening sue......it to stop discriminating on the basis of race.


Curious....is the race thing all you have? Are you running out of moves?

First, joining NATO is optional. If I join it for Trinity, then might be a $500 initiation fee and a $50 dues. I agreed to pay those when I joined. Uh oh I have already lost you.

So anyone that joined NATO has to pay what in the hell they are told to pay or be chastised and ostracized and in the end, screwed up, screwed over, by the United States of America. Can’t wait Spain will be a first example.

Now, to your question, if they don’t like the defensive or the offensive postures, then they need to not join, or quit if they have joined. You are writing like a girl.

If the Soviets had respected pre-WW2 borders, NATO would not have been necessary. Instead, the Soviets (principally, the Russians) occupied the whole of eastern Europe as far west as Eisenach (Germany) and brutally repressed hundreds of millions of people for half a century.
