How much more would you pay for your lettuce to keep illegal immigrants out of the US? Would you be willing to pay $10 a pound? Or is cheap lettuce worth the hassles?

No, the British economy also relies heavily on low-pay immigrant workers also.
The point being, with mobility of labour & market forces, so what?
If the jobs weren't there then we'd soon run out of housing & tougher legislation would quickly follow.

Just out of curiosity where do the low payed immigrants to Britain come from?

If the jobs for the immigrants were not there... what housing would run out? Housing for the unemployed immigrants?

Couple of points that seem to have eluded you.

If they are lazy then they aren't going to be doing really hard work for virtually no money.

If they are illegal immigrants then they can't claim welfare.
