The post that was quoted here has been removedI read this article this past weekend.
Again, it is shocking on one hand that we were outright lied to in school about this and yet, not shocking regarding the current climate of the now-exposed right-wing in this country. The myths in this article is exactly how I was taught this battle went down.
I fear for my country, not that these myths are being exposed, but because this is exactly how the white-washing of America has progressed for almost 200 years. How we've all been mollified into taking the blue pill for all this time. What's frustrating is that there is no one I can point to and say "It's HIS fault!" because this has been a part of American culture for so, so long now. It's absolutely true that history is written by the victors.
What ELSE don't we know of our own history? This is WHY we need Critical Race Theory in our education system.
@dood111 saidTexas would be a mess. Lots of cheap Coronas though.
If not for the men at the Alamo, Texas would still be part of Mexico and look just like Mexico..
Uhhmmmboy wouldn't tht be grand?
Here is something that will piss off Duchess64. If Mexico had not fought but instead summited to the Spanish, and eventually came under US rule ie became one the States. They would have become a very prosperous state. Imagine if Central America did the same, what a prosperous region that would be.

@rajk999 saidGiven America's history of slaughtering Native Americans and the Chinese, any "prosperity" would most likely have involved the same for Mexicans.

The post that was quoted here has been removedWho the hell cares about all that. I know you want to miss the point. You need to move the eyes from the back of your head and place them in the front where they belong.
TODAY, Mexico and Central America would have been a prosperous region, booming with tourism, natural resources. Standard of Living would be on par with the rest of USA and Canada.

@dood111 saidCuba was tooooo prosperous and they were soooooo happy, they just had to leave, and Castro love Cubans soooo much he wanted them to stay.
Then WHY weren't Cubans risking their lives floating across the ocean in makeshift rafts before Castro came to power?
Sometime you have to wonder about these communist supporters.
