PawnDavid, you need to find out where the plastic is actually coming from, travel through Asia and you'll see rivers and streams are literally dumping ground, it's not from a few straws going to the land fill in the US.
Banning straws in the US because of what is happening somewhere else is control freak power tripping, nothing more.

Queen Wajoma, much plastic gets into our oceans from litter off our beaches on lakes, rivers,oceans, and street drainage systems. Anything that gets into our drainage systems gets flushed into our rivers and then enters our oceans. Every time it rains, plastic garbage from streets and gutters floats down our sewage drains into our Major rivers that flow into the oceans. Most lakes have rivers or creeks that enter and exit the lakes that then enter into our major rivers which enter into the oceans. Yes, some country's are worse than others. However, we are still part of the problem Queen wajoma. There are also many other major causes queen wajoma. However, we need to start somewhere oh queenie boy. BTW, our rivers and oceans were major dumping grounds for most of the US raw waste until less than 80 years ago; and, they still are are for treated waste. Ever heard of the "Dead Zone" in the Gulf of Mexico; It's almost as big as the state of New York and nothing grows or lives there due to the chemicals from our treated waste coming out of the Mississippi river; Oh queenie wajoma.
