Mozart would go where the money is. If he composed his (over 600) works today, it would not make him much money, in my opinion. The subject of another thread, maybe?
I would think he would figure out how to apply his genius to satisfy the masses, so that people like Jimmm and Suzianne would buy many tickets to his concerts. He would make millions!!!
Ahh, but what KIND of music? If we could figure that out, we would invest in the correct musicians to create it, we would pay them and Mozart good salaries, and pocket all the profits. Ole Moz'ie would think he was rich, but not as much as us investors!!

There are standards and criteria for judging and evaluating art. Critics build consensus. Despite some disagreements, an overwhelming number of movie critics like The Godfather, therefore it is objectively a good movie.
Drake is objectively bad art. Every song on Drake's Certified Lover Boy topped the chart for weeks, despite most critics calling it "derivative", "boring ...[text shortened]... ong was so darn popular but it's so ... bad.

Jimm, are you taking over for @Sonhouse - dragging Trump into the thread? Jeeeezis.
Anyway, @Jazz. Mozart would go Jazz.
Wildgrass noted criteria for universally good or bad....I followed with an example............... 😛

Pff.
"Despite some disagreements, an overwhelming number of movie critics like The Godfather, therefore it is objectively a good movie."
It is objectively a good movie because a lot of people subjectively like it? 😀

Not according to the people who buy his albums and t ...[text shortened]... one must embark on to be granted this responsibility, this power, to declare what is and isn't art?
It is objectively a good movie because a lot of people subjectively like it?
You write this sarcastically, but of course yes. Binary answers at the individual level yield quantifiable objective statistics on the overall artistic value.
Why is the critic's opinion more valued than the consumer's?
Because they are experts, not consumers. I wouldn't trust a pimpled high school junior for medical opinions either. Doctors provide more valuable opinions.
I was sure eventually this conversation would turn to "what is the definition of art?" The one i like the best is "it can be reliably distinguished from a random pattern".
In conclusion, Drake is bad art. Objectively.

I saw that, it did not rate a response. My granny, who is quite 'noted' in her circles, says canasta is better than bridge!
What, did you grow a pair in the meantime and opt to respond, Jo?

Same old GOP story....Opinion but no FACTS...
Just show me a poll where TRUMP is rated a top President....
Can you do that?.....Didn't think so.
Opinions are just opinions and they're all different.
FACTS ARE FACTS..........AND THEY REMAIN THE SAME.
Personally, I prefer POKER. 😛
