Spain. 2019.
A court decides that 5 men didn’t rape a woman... because she was unconscious.

I don’t know why I’m posting this, probably because I’m flabbergasted.

What the hell is wrong in Spain?

prob something to do with their new left wing govt, like the man is a victim of colonialism or something...

Whether this makes any sense at all hangs on how they define rape in Spanish law. In the UK rape is defined as sex without consent. So that particular verdict would be impossible in UK and similar legal systems because of the absence of consent. I imagine that they have a definition that requires explicit refusal - so for the offence to be rape in Spain the woman has to have said "no". The Spanish clearly need to review their rape laws to avoid abominations like this.

Edit: Made moral position clearer.

Both major parties in Spain are centrist (don't be fooled by the names).
The misogynist law is probably a hangover from Franco ... someone you
presumably admire?

Not s hangover from it’s it’s ultra right wing fascist Franco regime then, thanks for clearing that up sparky.
I believe the victim was 14 and the rapists were found guilty of the lesser charge of sexual abuse. The Spanish courts have a history of downgrading what would be rape charges in most EU courts to some lesser offence.
