In the 1860s for God sake. Most of the right wingers here are unrepentant CSA Lost Causers.

Here's your "1868" bullsip.

"Robert Carlyle Byrd; November 20, 1917 – June 28, 2010) was an American politician who served as a United States senator from West Virginia for over 51 years, from 1959 until his death in 2010."

This is the man that also doubled as Grand Cyclops of the KKK.

2010, not 1860, not that this will shut you down any.

Give it up, Earl - you know better:

"The materials assert two interlocking claims: first, that prominent Southern politicians switched party allegiance from Democrat to Republican, and second, that Strom Thurmond’s switch in 1964 is emblematic and often-cited. The supplied sources confirm both claims: a biography and contemporary histories place Thurmond’s formal party switch in September 1964 and note his earlier 1948 Dixiecrat presidential run as proof of long-standing conservative opposition to national Democratic civil-rights positions [2] [5] [1]. Scholarly analyses broaden the claim from individual switches to a mass realignment of white Southern voters and elites across the 1958–1980 period, identifying civil-rights legislation and the Democratic Party’s actions in 1963–1964 as pivotal forces reshaping partisan loyalties [4] [3]."

From a scholarly review, not the Breitbart articles you slavishly rely on:

"From 1958 to 1961, conservative racial views strongly predict Democratic identification among Southern whites, a correlation that disappears after President Kennedy introduces sweeping Civil Rights legislation in 1963. We find that defection among racially conservative whites explains all (three-fourths) of the decline in relative white Southern Democratic identification between 1958 and 1980 (2000). We offer corroborating quantitative analysis—drawn from sources such as Gallup questions on presidential approval and hypothetical presidential match-ups as well as textual analysis of newspapers—for the central role of racial views in explaining white Southern dealignment from the Democrats as far back as the 1940s."

If there ever was a time when black people were systemically kept from voting, it was at the hands of the democrats.

Groups of African Americans trying to get to the polling places were so horribly interrupted
by the per usual likely suspects, white bullies, who beat these people off and chased them away.
This was happening into the 60's, and it took a special ...[text shortened]... es.

This was down south, Suzi, and was happening in my lifetime, by the KKK, Suzi, your people.
Stop lying.

The KKK are your people. Republicans.

Creepy stuff.. there are things that you have not thought about which will disappear from your lives, but as long as things are free and taxes are high, you will be just fine
The only really creepy thing is your never ending fascist rants. We get it. You prefer money over people. You believe that success equates to having the most amount of things when you die. That's you being you, but the world is waking up from your fascist impulses and moving on. Say goodbye now. Bye bye fascist.

I believe in success. I challenge you to complete this sentence in one 7-letter letter word or less. “ I believe in ———-“

You can’t. Why.? Because you liberals do not know what you believe in ,,,,,think about it. It is difficult for you to put in words because what you believe in has to do with pulling off of other people.. I think I should teach a course in this. What would you think?

Do it man.this is your moment. Libs believe in. ———-.

Get it right Earl...Racists used to be democrats until Kennedy and then Johnson.

At that point dyed in the wool CSA racists switched allegiance and became Republicans. See the racists were the same people. But they changed their team.

If you like I could explain this a lot slower.
