Yes, you would assume. Alternatively, you can look at what's happening in the real world.
We should begin with real world examples? Are there any or is this term mere fantasy in your opinion?

If you cannot think of any real world examples, what is your assumptions that this trend exists based on? Is it anything substantial or just something you read on The Blaze?

What a ridiculous slippery slope attempt. Just because both death and taxes are inevitable does NOT make them the same thing!
The argument is how far can we go with direct democracy?

Is there a way to reverse this trend?
View this video and you will have to conclude, no. There is no way to reverse the trend. It's hopeless.

I can play that game too. First of all we don't have a direct democracy. We have a Republic. Our Republic is extraordinarily efficient at transforming taxes to military defense and logistics. Therefore, if we're considering how far we can go with our Republic, clearly we can have a socialist paradise where the government taxes heavily and uses it's extreme efficiency (as demonstrated via military) to make the country a paradise on Earth.

Now let's stop the silly slippery slope extremeness. It's just low quality propaganda, unworthy of a Debates forum.
