Comparing Trump to Hitler is an extreme analogy. Hitler was a genocidal dictator whose regime carried out mass murder on an industrial scale. No contemporary U.S. political leader, including Trump, has done, or is institutionally positioned to do, anything like that. The comparison is usually about rhetoric, but powerful language alone doesn’t equal totalitarianism or genocide.
