It seems to me there will always be some way to circumvent
various government controls like in China, they want to control
the internet like they control other media. However there are ways
of getting around these controls with underground software.
But taxes aside, the exchange of ideas and the communication that the web provides is simply astounding. This site and these boards are a tiny, but perfect example. I'm able to read and discuss ideas with people from all over the world. People that 20 years ago I would have never had a conversation with, much less played a good game of chess. 🙂
