I see your point, but by letting them have nukes, and allowing them to break UN resoulutions. were showing them that we dont mean bussiness, and were as weak as the UN. I wonder what the UN would do if US backs totaly away. and we say that they can have nukes.
I don't know.

I think it will be interesting.

Iran is real close to tossing out the bad guys. But the bad guys have the advantage. Because they are bad. They kill and destroy the good guys without qualms.

But my family point of view is to ignore it. So I will.

I don't know. Truly. Except that none of the others have "vowed" to destroy Israel with a nuke. Iran has. But see my family position below.(errrr.... above) I agree with it. Because?

My family left there in 1981. To survive. Who am I to piss into that wind?
Twenty years ago New Zealand said we would not have nuclear weapons in our country. We would not develop them or would not permit our allies to bring them into our harbours and airfields.

The decision caused outrage in the US Government. It caused the breakup of a formal military alliance between Australia, New Zealand and US dating back to the 1950's. No US navy ship has visited a NZ port since 1984 and forrmal military co-operation between US and NZ is limited. As a minor ally, our job was to agree with American leadership, not to make our own decisons as to nuclear weapons being brought into our own country.

So I am against the spread of nuclear weapons, to Iran or anywhere else. We need to reduce their numbers everywhere.

SVW, you are the king of all self bumpers. Can't your posts survive without you providing constant life support? If not, let them die.

The United States of America should work with our allies to make an international decision on the matter.

Rafsanjani: U.S. can’t stop Iran’s nuclear program

Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said that the U.S. cannot stop Iran's nuclear plans

Former Iranian President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said that the United States cannot stop Iran from pursuing nuclear technology and warned against choosing a military adventure in the country.

"The Persian Gulf is not a region where they can have fireworks and Iran is not a country where they can come for an adventure," Rafsanjani told Muslim worshippers after Friday prayers.

"It is not acceptable that developed countries generate 70 or 80 percent of their electricity from nuclear energy and tell Iran, a great and powerful nation, that it cannot have nuclear electricity. Iran does not accept this," he added.

We will guard this technology. You will see in the future that Iran will have all the achievements of nuclear science at its disposal,he added. ;Iran has not hesitated for a moment about its decision to continue enrichment.

In November, Iran agreed to halt all activities related to uranium enrichment as a goodwill gesture during its talks with the Europeans, but said that the suspension would be a matter of months rather than years.

France, Britain and Germany want to persuade Iran to fully dismantle its nuclear program in exchange for trade and technology benefits.

Rafsanjani reiterated that Iran wouldn't abandon the process of uranium enrichment, but added that the Islamic republic can discuss a diplomatic solution by offering further guarantees that the fuel will not be used in making nuclear bombs.

"This confidence has to be built in the next few months. When this period this is over, we will, God willing, continue enrichment and nuclear technology," he added, stressing Iran's co-operation with the UN atomic watchdog.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Wednesday that Iran must give what she called a nuclear weapons program or be referred to the UN Security Council for possible sanctions.

Iran denies that it is covertly developing atomic weapons and insists that its nuclear ambitions are strictly for peaceful purposes.

The Islamic republic also warned to speed up work on its nuclear program if the United States or Israel attacked its atomic facilities.

Rafsanjani said that the U.S. threats will come to nothing.

They neither scare us nor the people. You can't carry them out either. The Persian Gulf region and Iran are not where you can set off your fireworks, he said.

“We have advised you numerous times to adopt a peaceful attitude and keep in mind that this revolution is here to stay." he added.
