MADRID (Reuters) - An Iranian chess player who moved to Spain in January after she competed without a hijab and had an arrest warrant issued against her at home has been granted Spanish citizenship, Spain said on Wednesday.

EDIT: Hurrah for Spain too for offering the woman sanctuary. We know what happens to people who fall into the hands of the Iranian morality police: they are beaten to death in custody.

@earl-of-trumps said1st, good on her, I believe that if one lived in an oppressed country, or in poverty, anyone would/should try to get out, "but" if a debate is to be had, and I will not be debating this point, could this not be seen as a way past the red tape. i.e creating ones owns circumstance to fit the criteria.
