This is what happens when you invade a country without planning an exit strategy, assuming that normal Iraqis will rise up and take control in gratitude of their liberation from Saddam Hussein. The US administration really screwed this one up, and the soldiers are paying the price for it.
Iraq is nothing compared to vietnam.
Vietnam
american casualties: 47,378, not including non-hostile
American Wounded: 304,704
Iraq:
American dead: 1882
american wounded: 14021
Do I think the war is going downhill? No. 24000+ civilians have been killed since Operation Iraqi Freedom started, but most of them can not be attributed to the US Forces.... I do not know how many we have killed, but, you can look through IBC's database if you want:
http://www.iraqbodycount.net/database/
We are not over there killing Iraqis! We are over there trying to protect them! Sometimes, accidents happen. It is hard to tell friend from enemy when terrorists are using women as human shields, and strapping IEDs to little girls.
^^Yes, that is right, the terrorists strap bombs to children. You will read that alot of americans are coming back from the war with psychological and emotional trauma. I had heard while I was over there that someone from the 101st was hospitalized, not from a bullet wound, but from having to kill an 6 yo child with and IED strapped to her body, while out on patrol. And you people think that the war in iraq is none of our business? What if that was your daughter? Heed me on this: if we do not stop the terrorists on their soil, they will come to our's, and it WILL be your daughter. Alot of the insurgents we are fighting in Iraq are NOT Iraqis. They are Iranians, syrians, egyptians, afghans... and also some iraqis.
**edit
forgot to add, you need to have patience. Defeating an army is alot easier than defeating an insurgency. Destroying a city is alot faster than building it. If the US did NOT care, we would of just went in, bombed them, and moved on. Then, the only US casualties you would hear about would be plane crashes. But, the US does care, which is why we will have to be there for a while.

The only reason America is in this country is GREED. Greed to exploit the vast oil resources that this country has...
Originally posted by iamrootIF you really cared, you would have never invaded the country in the first place but would have collaborated with the UNO and NATO who where long investigating whether Iraq was in possession of weapons of mass destruction (by the way, where are all those found weapons ?????????).

Since the weapons of mass destruction was never the real reason of why America invaded the country in the first place, your statement is wrong on all levels anyway...

Just kind of in your teenage rebelous years still. You still have time to grow and learn .. if you pay attention.
Originally posted by The Slow Pawnheh, that is a joke. I just filled my tank up at $3.20 a gallon. If Bush is over there for the oil, please, have him start shipping it over here.

Also, you can not say that Iraq did not have weapons, just like I cannot say that he did. Because Saddam held back the UN inspectors for so long, how do you know that he did not hide, destroy, or sell them. Truthfully, I think we invaded Iraq for the wrong reasons, but, i still think that invading Iraq was the right choice(this may sound confusing to you, but think it through. If you do not understand, I will explain what I mean).

think there is another one titled "it's not about oil", or something like that.
