What do people think about the photos of British soldiers abusing Iraqi Prisoners? I read quite a bit about how they could be fakes..but I am not sure of what to believe myself (I doubt ne1 could be these days....) I've met quite a few squaddies and I think it could be easily possible. What are we to make of them? - is this sort of thing just to be expected? Do we blame somebody? Are they real? Who knows? What do we believe?

I would expect someone to bring forward evidence like this out of their desire to do the right thing. They need to front up with names and dates.
Were they paid for them?
In the media, and in the western world we are all appalled by the photographs it seems. There is all sorts of outrage being expressed - which, naturally, if they are real is good. How come we don't see the arab press - or arab states ever procrostonating and dwelling in such self doubt? Don't want to do a kliroy here...but when is Al'jazeera ever critical of itself and introspective?

Put anyone in that position of power without control and they will mis-behave.
Nowadays we have the red cross. If you have prisoners, have the red cross. Simple as that.
But then again, having the Red Cross in these prisons would mean no more torture, wouldn't it? And that would lead less information...I'm sure.....

I don't think Shavix went to any Dutch schools at all, since he is Scottish .... true or not Shavix ?

In every case of prisoner mis-treatment you mention...there was no red-cross presence. Was there?
There was no one there to make sure there was no absolute power. Was there?
Nope. My point exactly.
Perhaps you should buy reading glasses so you can understand what you're reading.
You do know how to read, don't you?

Are you really trying to excuse American troop's actions by comparing them with the fascist forces of World War Two? I think it shows you have a pretty low regard for the decency of your fighting men.

But, you would agree then, that having the red cross present at prisoner locations would diminish the chances of torture, many fold?
So, is the answer:
a: There's not enough red cross people, so that isn't the solution or
b: Make sure there are enough red cross people, so that it becomes the solution?

Interesting that the prison bullies are not combat troops - I think these look to be a lower form of soldier - if I can be permitted to criticise any of your troops.
I am more interested in how you resolve it. It was Americans who uncovered it and Americans who reported it after all. Up to you guys now to have the decency to sort out responsibility. So far, I have no reason to doubt your resolve.
