Without trying to riducule your opinion or pick an argument with you, what is it that makes you so confident that the US will never surpassed in both economic and military power? What do you think the US has that say the British-Romans didn't have?

Personally I think things will change, not in the near future though. I only believe this because it's the way history has been for as long as we can tell. Also, the old chestnut theory of multipolarity-bipolarity-unipolarity (if you go for theories that is...) is a pretty strong one and has a fair amount of historical precedent that tells us that no power lasts for ever.

The US is historically inclined to fear most things, be it black people, yellow people, communists, terrorists, folk singers, freedom fighters, whatever...

So, yeah... they'll probably end up fearing China, Thailand or Mongolia.
I certainly wouldn't be surprised.
