The thing about an economy as large as the US's is that it is huge, and like a large
ship in the ocean turning is slow going versus a smaller economy and a small boat.
When the Titanic sunk, some lay blame on the captain who was moving through
dangerous waters at a speed where he couldn't react in time to stop the collision
with the iceberg, I believe his experiences in ...[text shortened]... this one will be dramatically negatively affected as well. Leadership matters;
don't kid yourself.
The 'economy is turning'. Yes, for the last 18 months. Do you think it was so horrible prior to that? It was not. Try again. In the last several years, avg annual income was up over $5000. The people who say that that is not so were simply not the recipients thereof (I did say average).
"People in charge now', "ideology".... right on. You are also correct that it will not be easy to make a course correction. People are dying from despair by their own hand. Like 1929 stock crash. You are correct that the worse is not yet here. You are correct that leadership matters!! Go KelleyJay.

My question is this: does it create as much spending as directly buying things? If not, don't we have economic problems because of wealth inequality?

The short answer is "No" investments do not create nearly as much positive economic impact as consumer spending, which represents a major portion of the American economy, and by extension a major portion of jobs, so, yes - ...[text shortened]... ltifaceted problem with a lot of moving parts. There are no quick fixes - no matter who is in power.
Maybe not 'quick' fixes. But there are fixes. Watch FOX Biz channel and hear how it (Biden action) can be done. He prints money, you know ..... You know that!? His spending is astronomical and you fellers are all about 20 different subjects when you could have him fix what he has messed up, and then get out of the way of those businesses you mention, and the men who create them and who do the investing that you all seem so jealous of. Remember, the people everyone works for are usually real, real rich. I love those guys. Drop your jealousy mindset and you will too.

Stop blaming Putin for everything.

If you bothered to read my post, you'd see there was a lot more to it than Putin. I see you're back into "blame Biden and the Lib's" mode again. The same thing happened in 1980 with Ronald Reagan, 2000 with "W", and 2016 with Trump - the economy didn't improve under these people, but it made conservatives feel good about themselves. and I predict it we'll go down this path again.

and the band played on... 😴
McHill........you blame Biden for nothing? You do not blame Biden? All this started 18 months ago. I know, you unhappy libs can probably say it started when Eisenhower made a mistake back in the 50's.

Suzianne is one of those who qualify as a liberal in my post that Conservatives are happier!!!! That child is NOT happy.
How can you be happy when you're all scared of something all the time?

Here's a clue: try to improve the world instead of dumping on it all the time. That's where happiness comes from.

Backwards Joe strikes again.

Inflation causes a greater wealth divide. Inflation is going to destroy economic growth in the long term. In the short term people will spend before prices go up more, but in the end they will have very little money to spend.

It will end in a UBI or a lot of bloodshed. One of the two.

@Metal-Brain
In other words you want us to fall over and play dead when that barbarian Putin attacks a sovereign nation. That would be GREAT for your boss Putin but for REAL folks we don't want Putin to rebuild the Soviet empire.
You do of course Comrade.
