Nothing else explains your platitudes about the practical existence of freedom of speech, not to mention your disgraceful defense of Limbaugh's vitriol as "a healthy sign", a claim which can only carry a negative and dow ...[text shortened]... y for a demagogue like Limbaugh than any of those who might be offended by his remarks.
From your post you come of as a "an enemy of freedom of speech". No question about it.

Oh well, do you at least feel relieved by the fact I have denied any desire to abolish freedom of speech or do you still have doubts about my true intentions?

He wasn't mocking the victims, he was mocking environmentalists who think that things like the Prius are going to save the planet, and who think that we (people) and our actions are responsible for natural disasters. He's also mocking Diane Sawyer, who totally should be mocked.

Limbaugh has a lot of respect for the Japanese people. In fact, he's the one who is willing to bet that the Japanese will rebuild what was destroyed before we (the USA) rebuild the World Trade Center, even though we've had a 10 year head start on them.

We're not planning to rebuild the world trade center. Are we?

That wasn't mocking them because of what happened with the earthquake and tsunami. That was a comment on anyone who thinks recycling is going to save the planet.

Not as it was. The plan calls for several buildings, of various floor counts. I think the tallest building will have 105 floors, other buildings will have floor counts in the 70s, 60s and 50s. I saw one article that mentioned that at least one of the new buildings is not scheduled to be completed until about 2020.

I have no "sympathy" for Limbaugh. I just support his right to free speech. The right to free speech trumps your hypothetical 'right not to have one's feelings hurt', regardless of ideology, demagoguery, insensitivity etc.

pointing out the existence of boundaries in public discourse doesn't in any way accumulate to a desire to silence all views I disagree with

No one said anything about you wanting to silence "all" views you disagree with. Just as no one has said anything about your "desire to abolish freedom of speech". These are clumsy strawmen. But you wanting to silence the likes of Limbaugh from saying the sort of things that are in the OP certainly marks your card as an enemy of free speech.

Me being "downright offensive" to you on this matter is something I am free to do, regardless of context; just as it you are free to call me "disgraceful" and to say you think the free speech of certain broadcasters should be curtailed or curbed. The fact that Limbaugh is free to express vitriolic thoughts, without the generalissimos of this world seeking to decide and impose what the generalissimos of this world like and don't like, is as "a healthy sign".

Perhaps Limbaugh would have been better off using the occasion of the tsunami to give his NCAA basketball picks.

Even giving you (or Limbaugh) beyond the benefit of a doubt, I think at best he chose a very tasteless context in which to vent his criticisms.

I reckon Limbaugh was speaking mockingly about the victims to amuse his fan base and court controversy. It may be more spontaneous and instinctive - a kind of head-of-steam driven riffing - than it is conscious or calculated. Either way, it's "very tasteless" as you say.

Be interesting to see how much is donated to relief efforts by Limbaugh's "fan base" as opposed to you idiots on the left, whose only generosity comes from spending and "donating" other people's money, and never your own
