iraq has oil, and used the sale of that oil to finance WMD programs, and tried to hide those WMD programs, and after the world said "we really really want to see that you aren't pursuing that anymore", flubbed the cooperation test, probably influenced by their success prior noncooperation, and definitely influenced by the propensities of certain nations to support their cause at the Security Council, and probably not realizing in time that with preparation for the invasion in progress it was not the time to play around.

because when people say it's about oil, they mean:
the U.S. invaded Iraq so they could control the oil supply.
not
the U.S. invaded Iraq because Iraq was using its oil monies to finance research and production of WMDs, and maintained contacts with and support of terrorists that would like to make use of those WMDs.

Do you think Syria supports terrorism more than say...Saudi Arabia? Explain me then why Syria and not other countries.

"Syria and Lebanon are hosting the headquarters of several terrorist organization (according to the State Department list and the EU list) such as Hezbollah, Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. The USA is also upset about the passage of Arab militants to Iraq through the Syrian border. The White House declared it holds Syria accountable for supporting terrorism and officially implemented sanctions on 11 May 2004."

"Fact Sheet: Implementing the Syria Accountability and Lebanese Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2003
Today's Presidential Action
President Bush today signed an Executive Order implementing sanctions on Syria pursuant to the Syria Accountability and Lebanese Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2003 ("the Act"😉. With the implementation of these sanctions, the President has demonstrated U.S. resolve to address the Syrian government's support for terrorist groups, its continued military presence in Lebanon, its pursuit of weapons of mass destruction, and its actions to undermine U.S. and international efforts with respect to the stabilization and reconstruction of Iraq. I wouldn't be so quick to cite Venezuela. The way the CIA are maneuvering around down there and the way Chavez is courting oil-hungry, superpower-imminent China, I wouldn't say an invasion of some kind was entirely out of the question.

when South Africa had the bomb, they hid them behind secret doors. walk past the door, look, no bomb!
if Iraq maintained double books, how could you "prove" they had no WMDs?
and the kicker, how did you know in 2002 that Iraq had no WMDs and was not pursuing any and was not maintaining double books? did you walk thru an Iraqi supermarket and say, "oh, look, they're not here!"
