The last days of the infamous Trump presidency were loaded with pardon after pardon with no input from DOJ which has procedures for such things but Kushner ran a business out of it. He even got one for his own father.

@sonhouse saidPardons should be left to the courts. I find it incredible that a nation that spilt its birthing blood to rid itself from the shackles of monarchy would invest this power in someone who manages to thread the political needle of the US.

What purpose can it serve apart from cases whereby everyone and their cat know someone has been wrongfully imprisoned but the courts are powerless to act.
@sonhouse saidYes Trump is an extreme example of why this system should not exist but I would argue it simply should not exist
@kevcvs57
If Trump gets reelected this machine will start up again one day one, that is AFTER Trump invokes the insurrection act and uses our military to quell protests.
It will literally be the end of the rule of law.

I find it incredible that a nation has ONE man in the office of President. It makes more sense to have three presidents,...... they get an issue, they go into a room and resolve it. Then you would not have your hated Trump on the red button, or the senile Biden being outrun and out-negotiated by the likes of Xi or Kim.
@mott-the-hoople saidIt's not the number, but the type. As a friend and business partner of his son-in-law, this drug smuggler should not have been pardoned by Trump. It's uncouth.
damn what some fools you libs are

@Mott-The-Hoople
POTUS is not supposed to pardon willy nilly, they were a direct response to dear Jarhead Kushner who was getting big bucks for his interventions.
Like his own father, yep, no politics there.......
There is SUPPOSED to be a congressional policy regarding pardons, for one thing, NO pardon for FIVE YEARS so Trump and Jarhead are stomping on the rule of law.
And it will get a LOT worse if Trump is 'SHUDDER" reelected, he already said he would pardon all ONE THOUSAND admitting to guilt and convicted of the insurrection coup attempt on Jan 6.
I guess you figure that is about right, right for a Trumpite cultist in good standing and ready to kiss Trump's ring when he becomes dictator, folks like you will make out just fine in the new democracyless USA.
@mott-the-hoople saidYeah he only used it to pardon his co conspirators and anyone who would pay him enough. Once again proving himself to be the most disgustingly corrupt POTUS in living memory
