Johannesburg International Airport

There is now a confirmed decision for the ANC to push through a petition to change the name of JHB International Airport to the Oliver Tambo Airport. (looking for a link, but heard it on the radio station news)

Now I can`t find out exactly how much this will cost but it will run into the high millions at least.

Now most of our hospitals just failed a check-up

Could that money not go to the hospitals or fighting AIDS and Poverty? Instead of a stupid name change?

This just really irritates me.

Yep, it's pretty stupid, especially since the current name is about as politically neutral as you can get.

One thing I can't figure out is why Oswald Pirow St. in Cape Town hasn't been changed, since he was one of the nastiest apartheid thugs going.

On holiday in Tennerife the other year, I found myself in a bar called Thatchers in Avenue del Generallisimo Franco.
Probably not a popular haunt for lefties like myself, but it was a Saturday afternoon and I urgently needed to see the footie scores.
