The last surviving leader of the 1963 March on Washington. What can one say about a man who spent his entire life fighting for civil rights and against injustice? Of a man who was arrested for using a "white" restroom and savagely beaten for leading a peaceful protest march yet still believed in the promise of this country and in nonviolence?
We've lost a giant. RIP, John.
@no1marauder saidseemed like a truly good man

One of the great ones, to be sure. A giant.
Back in 1963, they had some bad names for African Americans, then known as
Negroes, that dared to speak up. And through it all, President John F. Kennedy
was intensely interested and glued to the TV when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
spoke, so I learned later in life.
I'm sure John Lewis had threats made on his life for his courageous speech.
And I am sure he will forever be remembered as true fighter for equal rights
and the ongoing struggle for African Americans to simply be treated as people.
RIP John Lewis
