According to a study by Stanford University researchers, Trump rallies over the summer were superspreader events leading to tens of thousands of COVID cases and hundreds of deaths:
"We investigate the effects of large group meetings on the spread of COVID-19 by studying the impact of eighteen Trump campaign rallies. To capture the effects of subsequent contagion within the pertinent communities, our analysis encompasses up to ten post-rally weeks for each event. Our method is based on a collection of regression models, one for each event, that capture the relationships between post-event outcomes and pre-event characteristics, including demographics and the trajectory of COVID-19 cases, in similar counties. We explore a total of 24 procedures for identifying sets of matched counties. For the vast majority of these variants, our estimate of the average treatment effect across the eighteen events implies that they increased subsequent confirmed cases of COVID-19 by more than 250 per 100,000 residents. Extrapolating this figure to the entire sample, we conclude that these eighteen rallies ultimately resulted in more than 30,000 incremental confirmed cases of COVID-19. Applying county specific post-event death rates, we conclude that the rallies likely led to more than 700 deaths (not necessarily among attendees)."

Of course, Trump has held dozens more of these rallies where social distancing is ignored and mask wearing is discouraged and affirmatively mocked.
No wonder why the Donald wants the People to ignore COVID altogether.
@shavixmir saidI am going to admit I was duped by the hype. Now that I have seen how little effect this virus has had, I see it as the joke that it is.
So, are you going to admit your predictions were the worst ever predicted?
It is a virus. Viruses kill a small fraction of the population, especially the elderly. The elderly are nearly dead anyhow, so they should realize death is coming soon enough.
We should all realize that death is part of life. False promises of immortality when they claim if the virus did not exist, peopke would not die.
You should wear your face shield and mask then get on with life.
@shavixmir saidThe virus is unstoppable. "Get busy liv'n or get busy dying"

@no1marauder saidHave the Democrats not held rallies? I don't know, I pay partial attention to British politics most of the time never mind US politics. However, assuming they have and, because mask wearing behaviour is a politicised thing in the US one might expect the Democrat attendees to be compliant in this matter, it would be interesting to see a comparison with Democrat rallies.

This is a bit of a politically sensitive piece of research; the results probably ought not to have been publicly released before the election, but the Republican Party apparatus, and for that matter Democrat and Green Party, ought to have been informed of the results for obvious reasons. The only case for releasing the results is if the Republican Party had been warned through official channels, in other words by the CDC on the basis of evidence, that their rallies were a covid risk and had ignored the warnings - when ignoring the advice of experts who are right might be regarded as an indication of unsuitability for office.
@deepthought saidActually, the Democrats have not held mass rallies for the very reason that they might become spreader events:

There have been various events held by the Democratic candidates and surrogates, but they have been limited in size or have been "drive in" rallies where the attendees stayed in their cars.

"Some 10,000 people are expected to attend a Trump campaign rally at an airport hangar in Des Moines, Iowa, Wednesday night. "Do you consider that type of event dangerous?" O'Donnell asked.
Fauci said his general advice should answer that question: "When people are close to each other, and you don't have virtually everyone wearing a mask, that is a risky situation that could very well lead to the kind of spreader events that we have seen in similar settings."
He has previously identified the White House ceremony for Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett as a "super-spreader" event. At least 24 people in Trump's orbit, many of whom attended the ceremony, have tested positive for COVID-19. Fauci said Wednesday, "I think the data have proven me to be correct.""

Trump regularly mocks the wearing of masks at such events:
